In the early hours of this morning COP 29 ended with much grievance and half hearted applause. Two weeks of elongated financial negotiation about how generous we needed to be over Climate restoration and protection ended in a compromise with many small countries fwalking out. It seems it may likely be a day soon when it is to become that our own choice still to make around generosity to Biodiversity becomes so clear because of the lack of current comprehension.
In 2013 when Daniella and I were about to start building Sanará on the beach of Tulum, I was anxious about how we were going to fund our dreams. I thought once we started building we really needed to know how to finish! We visited with our friend Dr. Bobby Klein in his home and the intuitive that he channeled said words to me that stay with me today. “Charlie through Sanará you will be able to be generous and practice generosity”.
Bobby has passed on now, and even though we had to experience God’s Mysterious ways of generous souls who backed our curative conscious container hotel dream not showing up a moment too soon or a moment too late, Bobby’s words ring resoundingly within me.
Within the daily pressures so pressing for so many around receiving resources and all the basic requirements to live a safe life, and one that provides for family, generosity is indeed hard for us to comprehend, much less practice.
I have in this life time felt the feeling of wishing to turn off my own fuse box and turn my back on a fellow in need, selecting only times and places to be generous.
Yet Bobby sensed the gift we were ushering forth. Those in the hotel industry can be blessed to be generous. High price rooms are not always filled that night, and kitchens always have surplus food so it’s not hard to say yes if a stranger shows up needing a bed or some food. Building teams gives permission for generosity. Impacting local and global communities allows for generosity. Being of service to our beloved guests and receiving thanks is a blessing that our generous guests would give us.
We have witnessed so much generosity of heart throughout our daily lives.
Relentless generosity is our contemplation today because I question whether we as humanity have the ability for what is required today. Relentless generosity for our planet, to restore the nature of God’s nature and even to bring generosity to those that our lingering prejudices may make it hard for us to comprehend why we should be generous.
In one short years time my colleagues at Open Planet Studio’s present at COP 30 in the Brazil rain forest a pivotal film, “Biodiversity”, which is being filmed currently. At this hinge moment, stories are being highlighted - of hope of belief of trust by activators today who are awake to practicing relentless generosity of their time, their resources with one common purpose - to harmonize humanity with our planet.
Relentless Generosity does not have to be beyond our human power.
Colin, one of my Biodiversity Arc colleagues said to me this week. “It does not have to cost the earth to save the planet!” My prayer is as Bobby said to me as we embarked on this epic journey… Let us be relentlessly generous.… so it doesn’t cost us ourselves, humanity, for the planet to be divinely just and save itself. 🛐💟
